How start and stop works
Starting and stopping is how you control both gameplay and billing.
Starting a server
- Open your server in the dashboard.
- Click Start.
- Wait for the status to change to running.
First start vs later starts
| First start | Later starts |
|---|---|---|
What happens | Provisions cloud VM, installs game, applies config | Restores saved world on same address |
Typical wait | 5–15+ minutes | Usually faster, but not instant |
Your server address (yourserver-a8f3.warp.cool) stays the same every time.
Stopping a server
- Click Stop in the dashboard (or let idle auto-shutdown handle it).
- Billing stops immediately.
- Your world is automatically backed up to cloud storage.
The next time you start, we restore your world exactly as you left it.
Server statuses
Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Provisioning / Starting | Setting up infrastructure or restoring world — wait before connecting |
Running | Ready for players |
Stopping / Backing up | Saving your world — this is normal |
Stopped | Offline, no billing |
